Took my boys to the park to listen to live jazz and have a drink. They are seated in front of me behaving.
I borrowed a local grandma to help out with the kids while we sat.
She was nice, very kind but mostly focused on the jazz.
It’s about a 5-kilometer round trip to the park, and the 3-year-olds walked 98% of it before getting tired. Near the end, they were both limping from sore feet but refused to complain.
Henry was smiling and laughing, but I could tell every step hurt him as we approached our street. He soldiered on until he saw a car like ours and tried to get in to rest. I carried both of them the rest of the way home.
These experiences build mental and physical toughness in our children. They need to experience discomfort at a young age so that it becomes natural and normal.
