Status is ALWAYS in comparison.

Most people don’t mind restoring being a full time wife and motherhood back to the higher status it had in the past, but they balk at making being single and childless lower status again. Both changes are needed.

Society needs both the positive and negative to contrast. Without contrast there is no status.

Real low status (poverty) is when your wife has to work and you can not afford to have 3+ kids that you raise yourself.

On the other hand: Big happy family = high status.

Lots of grandchildren = highest status.
