Men of the ancient greek world had a deeper bond than men usually have today

Men of the ancient greek world had a deeper bond than men usually have today. They relied on each other far more than we today rely on other men. For the greeks your brothers in arms were your team, your strength and your insurance. Your future (and family) was tied with theirs.

Achilles felt responsibility for Patroclus as his commander, he felt love (philia) for Patroclus as if to a brother, and duty to him as his battle buddy. They traveled and fought togethers for years. They had a real, deep, trusting love (not sexual) for each other.

Unfortunately, due to our atomised society and a fear of being called gay men today are often lacking in that type of love, that brotherly bond that can be very satisfying in ways that romantic love with a woman might not be.

Men who are fully actualized and confidant in their masculinity have no fear of extending genuine love and affection to their brothers. They dont fear being called gay for what is a natural reaction to being in the company of good men.
