There are always signs. Unfortunately most people don’t understand how to spot them, they are painfully naive. Even if they understand sexual dynamics and psychology, sexual desire often over rides good judgement.
Historically marriage was a joining of two families. When you married your whole family would vet your potential spouses whole family. This level of due diligence offered both parties a high level of protection from bad decisions.
