Any society that set aside competitive technology would ceases to exist in 2 generations unless they have a technologically superior society to protect them.

This is just another round of survival pressures. Some will handle it poorly and their genetic lines will die out.

Maybe thats how we mature as a society, but letting the physically and mentally weak exit the gene pool?

Its what we have always done by necessity.
