When boys hit puberty, they need a man to guide them
No matter how good a mother you are, you will not be equipped for whats coming
You are going to need a mans help
And that is not going to be easy
Near the end I will give some suggestions on finding a mentor for your sons
Many single mothers avoid finding a mentor for their sons
They fear the inevitable confrontation as their little babies become men and start asking the question
“Why dont I have a father in my life?”
No matter what you think, there is no easy answer
Your boy has a right to be angry about being denied the opportunity to learn from his own father, his flesh and blood
This is not about blame or fault
Your boy was denied something precious that he has a natural right to
Do not minimise his loss or his emotions
Before you even find a mentor for your son, you need to find a mentor for yourself
You need to come to grips with how YOU got into this situation, raising a boy with no father
You need to have satisfying answers when your son comes asking
Having a mentor for your son will accelerate his developing into a man, including masculinising his thinking
Before he is out of his teens its likely that he will surpass you in some aspects of thinking and emotional control
You may not like all the conclusions he comes to
Communicating with your son will also change
You need to learn how to talk to him, woman to man
That is different than woman to child
The nuances of it are too complicated for this thread, get help from a MAN who can teach you how to effectively communicate with a teenage boy
Mentorship is an EXTREMELY valuable service
There will be a cost to finding a mentor for your sons
Pay to have them join all mens groups that are comprised of a mix of older and younger men on a mission
This will enable them to start building relationships with other men
You can also find your sons mentors at church, however many churches are completely devoid of MEN, having instead MALES, under developer man children
Hard core gyms, brazilian jiu jitsu and MMA style training centres are also a great place to find mentors
Be bold about asking
The ideal mentor for your son will be a masculine, mature, successful man who is married, has raised his own children and is looking to help some under fathered young boys
While that is ideal, even a mentor who is 5 to 10 years older than your son can have a positive impact
Earlier I mentioned the cost of finding a mentor
This will include money, time, energy and dedication
A mentor is not going to want to help an ungrateful boy or his ungrateful mother
Be gracious and look for opportunities to pay him back
Both of you need to “do the work”
If in doubt, message me and ask your questions
I have mentored many dozens of young men and women and helped single mothers with their sons
I even created a group for under fathered young men to help them walk The Path To Manhood
