️📣What causes mental illness?

Most people undergoing mental or emotional distress are NOT mentally ill, they reacting to a lack of Agency in the face of what they perceive as overwhelming challenges.

The chemical imbalance theory has been debunked. Google and you can find the information. It’s gone the way of the four humors explanation.

Much of psychology is pseudo science and wishful thinking. If you want to understand the human mind neurobiology is a real science that is unlocking the surprisingly simple functioning of the human mind.

The brain functions like a computer. The currently known causes of mental illness are:

Structural brain damage or malformation (mutations, drugs, impacts, accidents, etc.). Bad “programming” (garbage in, garbage out). Insufficient nutrition. Toxic build up (copper, aldehydes, etc.)

Many otherwise healthy people suffer from the last three causes. These are fixable.

For example: Stress causes people to revert to their training (or programming). The thinking brain shuts down and they go into fight, flight or freeze. What that looks like depends on the experiences they lived as children.

If they were conditioned in childhood to survive stress by hiding in dissociative delusions (a form of freeze) when confronted with a stressor they could not deal with, this becomes their default and they will become delusional as adults.

Developing Agency allows them to get control of their automatic responses, change them (reprogram) or even bypass them with the thinking brain.

The human mind is very plastic, capable of healing and adjusting to new situations. That is our greatest strength as a species. Every one of us can do it.

A nutrient rich diet and the reduction of exposure to toxins supports the process of reprogramming. Together it changes lives and solves mental and emotional disturbances in ways current allopathic medicine can not replicate.
