Many people who are suffering from low self-esteem also have a poorly defined self-image. They dont know who they are.

If they dont know who they are then how could they develop self-esteem? How can they be confidant in someone they dont know?

This leads to people trying to “find themselves”. Which always ends up being “find someone to tell you who you are”.

That “someone” might be found in religion, politics, hobbies, music, sports, gangs, online communities, “orientations”, etc.

There is no shortage of charlatans and grifters willing to tell you who you are, which is always someone who benefits them, a servant, a thrall, a mark, prey.

These masters of manipulation know how to impress themselves on soft, unformed minds.

Your only defence is a well constructed self-image. You need to take personal responsibility for creating yourself. Choose who you want to be and become that person.
