Positive affirmations have been largely misunderstood
Positive affirmations have been largely misunderstood. They are not designed to make you feel better, their purpose is to help you gather determination to follow a course of action. They change your inner person, reprogramming your life so that you behave differently.
For example, below is my affirmation to remain in frame:
I will remain in a stoic frame of mind at all times because I love myself and the life that I have created, therefore I will not risk destroying what I have on a moment of irrational emotionalism or hedonism.
