Our ancestors would send their young boys out into the wilderness alone at 10 to 12 years old to face nature and possible death.

Girls on the other hand were kept real close to home, safe and secure in the village.

For my boys I prefer that they take big risks and have adventures that will help them become men rather than stay super safe all the time.

We prepare for danger together and I ensure that whoever is around them knows I will do terrible things to anyone who harms them.

If I had girls I might have a very different approach for them. But either way I refuse to raise fearful children.
