Most people have never been taught how to manage their emotions in a healthy way. Instead, they have had their feelings suppressed and minimized by parents or others who were supposed to love and nurture them. Eventually they internalize this self tyranny.
Processing emotions in rational ways is perhaps the most important skill of Stoicism. Here we will refer to it as Emotional Hygiene. Like physical hygiene it should be performed regularly. Don’t rush your emotions. You will need to feel your emotions to process them.

Unprocessed emotions don’t go away, they fester and hurt us. Men and women process emotions differently however the following activities are generalized. Feel free to customize them to your needs.
