Most men and women don’t understand each other

Most people cannot form a mental model of the mind of another person who is almost exactly like them, let alone someone of the opposite sex. They lack the empathy, mental power, training, and experience to do so.

And it’s not easy to develop any of that. I’ve spent my whole life (since early childhood) having deep conversations with people and being trained to build trust, ask insightful questions, empathize, and discover insights and I still learn new things every day.

The most common mistake people make is thinking that everyone else is like them. That’s a reasonable mistake to make; even with all my experience, I have done the same. Where it gets really pernicious is when we demand that others think like us and become offended when they don’t.

Hannah is right; men are communicating, but women are not listening and instead solipsistically acting like their mental model of the world is the only correct one.
