How to pass an unpopular law in 7 steps

Do it in increments.

  1. Propose the most vile version of the law. (Example: You all get beat to death.)

  2. Let it be rejected. The small people claim a victory.

  3. Propose a less vile version of the bill and call it a compromise. (Example: You all get beat half to death.)

  4. Let it be rejected. The small people claim a second victory.

  5. Call the public unreasonable and selfish (GSRRM manipulation).

  6. Push through the version you wanted all along. (Example: You are now all slaves.)

  7. The small people rejoice in their 2/3 wins and how they got the government to back down on their plans.

Unless the law increases the rights of adults to bear responsibility for themselves and the commons (true freedom), it is just another incremental step in your enslavement.
