Dear Dads: Your son should have no doubts in his mind that he is a boy on his way to manhood, and he must know exactly what that means.
As his father, it’s your job to explain it to him as often and as extensively as needed until he internalizes it.
Your son should be able to confidently answer these questions by the time he’s about 9 years old:
- What is a man?
- What makes a man a man?
- What makes a man a good man?
- What responsibilities does a man have to himself, his family, his friends, and his people?
Most adult men cannot answer these questions.
If you, as a father, struggle to answer them, you are not alone. Please feel free to contact me for a chat to help you gain clarity and develop a plan to help your sons grow into men that you can be proud of.
