About 15 years ago I met a couple raising sheep for milk to make expensive cheese.

They made €1500 profit a year per sheep. They had 200 sheep. That is €300k a year. They spent all day, every day together working the sheep and living outdoors. They could easily retire after just 10 years of sheep herding to have kids.

No college debt. No diversity cities. No getting fired.

They bought about 30 sheep for roughly €400 each, borrowed the money from family. They bred up the rest of the herd.

They grazed on pubic land and pay a per sheep fee.

They sold the milk, male lambs for meat and excess females to other ranchers. They didn’t make the cheese themselves.

Apparently the profit per sheep has gone up to €2300/year (as of 2 years ago) due to the exploding popularity of the very specific cheese they make with it. Prices should continue to rise.
