What is “status”?

It is your reputation with in a hierarchy of men

Not all hierarchies are equal

She mentions wealthy but effeminate men, such “men” are only high status compared to poor effeminate men

They are excluded from masculine hierarchies, where they have zero status

A woman who chooses a cultured thug over a wealthy nerd is hypergamously moving up to what she perceives as a more valuable hierarchy with better men

She values a strong man over a weak man so she picks what she perceives as the more valuable of the two, this too is hypergamy

Hypergamy does not rule out self sabotage

Some women stay with total losers for the same reason that some men date ugly women, they have low self esteem and are self sabotaging

This is not an argument against hypergamy, its a totally different topic, one of personal disfunction
