True incels (involuntarily celibate) are rare. Such men lack any traits that women find attractive so they have zero chance of sex or marriage.
Most “incels” are volcels (voluntarily celibate). They could get a woman but they dont know how or are too lazy or distracted.
MGTOW has two groups that might overlap.

Men (usually past middle age) who have decided to not engage with women, often due to a bad past experience.

Men who dont like women but are not gay. They may still have sex with women but they dont want relationships.
Incels, volcels and MGTOW have ALWAYS existed.
If you go back far enough in history only 1 out of 10 men reproduced. Later it was as high as 50%.
The difference is that we didn’t label, shame or isolate them. Instead we found honourable positions for them in society.
