To be frank is to be white
To be frank is to be white.
Frank; c. 1300, “free, liberal, generous;” 1540s, “outspoken,” from Old French franc “free (not servile); without hindrance; sincere, genuine, open, gracious, generous; worthy, noble, illustrious” (12c.), from Medieval Latin francus “free, at liberty, exempt from service,” as a noun, “a freeman, a Frank”.
The Franks, a Germanic tribe, as the conquering class in Europe, they alone had the status of freemen in a world that knew only free, captive, or slave, and as such, they alone could speak without fear or hindrance.
That freedom was most often displayed in regard to expressing one’s own opinions honestly, sincerely, and graciously. This was not a right; it was a freedom. They did not need to petition anyone, and no person or law granted them a license to speak; rather, they retained the power to speak freely by force of arms.
The use of that freedom to speak may go so far as to be unpleasant, or it may disregard conventional ideas. Hence, frankness implies some degree of boldness and willingness to defend yourself.
It is your ancestral inheritance as freeman to speak the truth frankly, boldly, honestly, sincerely, and graciously. It’s our culture, part of our roots, and part of our people.
To the extent that you are able and willing to exercise and defend your freedom to speak the truth, you are free. Otherwise, you are a slave.
You can still speak frankly if you’re not white but this post is aimed at encouraging my people to speak frankly.
