In the US Civil war the state devolved into a Timocracy as the army defeated the Southern Aristocrates and ended rule of law in America

Civil war was followed by demilitarisation & the Oligarchs (Robber Barrons)

WW1 and WW2 saw the rise of a coalition between Oligarchs & Timocrates

Following WW2 America devolved into a full blow democracy by the 60s

We are now seeing a devolution to the final stage, tyranny
