My 11-year-old son is sitting beside me, wiggling, moving his head left and right, and stretching his neck.

“What up, Levi? Are you okay?” I ask.

“Yes, but I’m uncomfortable. My neck and shoulders are getting bigger, and I’m not used to the extra muscles yet. It feels weird to be so big.”

He has been engaging in extensive exercise, including 90-minute kick boxing sessions, hundreds of pushups, and 45-minute punching bag sessions, all of which are contributing to the massive surge of testosterone that comes with puberty. His body’s growth and changes are now very rapid. The boy has vanished, and the man emerges.
