Marriage is an exclusive institution

Marriage is an exclusive institution.

It requires excluding the whole world except your spouse.

The objective of dating standards is to exclude as many people as possible from your dating pool, leaving only the most compatible matches.

But here is the key. By eliminating obviously incompatible matches, we get access to MORE possibly compatible matches. By not wasting time dating the wrong people, we have more time to date the right person.

3 Practical steps to finding suitable dating matches:

Be precise and realistic. Take a sheet of paper and draw a line down the middle. On the left side, write down your standards for dating the opposite sex. When you are done, for each expectation you have of the opposite sex, write your sex’s value equivalent. If you don’t match up to the standards for your sex, then you have work to do. (Or lower your standards).

Like attracts like. Only associate with people who are within your standards for yourself and for your dating pool. All your friends should be roughly on your level. Finding a match through friend groups is still one of the best ways to ensure the long-term success of a marriage.

Different events attract different types of people. The events and hobbies you are attracted to should either help expand your friend group and/or find a girlfriend. If this is not happening, get better hobbies and attend better events.

Finding someone to date or have sex with is easy. Finding someone who is worth marrying requires some hard work. You didn’t expect the good things in life to be free of effort, did you?

It’s going to take some work to put yourself in the right environment to find someone that you click with and that will make a good marriage mate. Marriage is an exclusive institution, and that effort is the barrier to entry.
