Marriage has a cost

Marriage has a cost. Not getting married has a cost. Having children has a cost. Not having children has a cost.

For people who don’t think they can attract and keep a good mate the cost of marriage may be too high and they prefer to pay the cost of being single.

Some people have high time preference and prefer to enjoy the freedom of childlessness now at the cost of a dreadful old age. Others are willing to make some sacrifices now so that they can live to see a wonderful legacy in the future.
