Just 5 generations ago a normal 9 year old boy would wake up at 5am, milk the family cow, kiss his mom and dad good bye for the day, take his dog and muzzle loading squirrel gun, shoot a rabbit on his 2 hour walk to school, bring it to his teacher at her one room school house to be cooked for all the kids lunch.

And then he sat down to learn for a few hours.

Our children will never know that kind of freedom.
