Great question. The Catholic requirement for priests and monks to never marry is not a Biblical requirement.

Getting into the why of it would (has) start(ed) needless wars.

Most men and women would do best to marry and have children, obeying Genesis 1:28.

But some men and very few women end up being called to tasks which prevent that most natural of outcomes.

For one reason or another they should not or can not be parents, this is a tiny minority.
