When I was a child, I had a couple of abandoned squirrels

When I was a child, I had a couple of abandoned squirrels. They fell out of a willow tree in my grandparents backyard. They caught them in a blanket and gave them to me to take care of.

The vet said to feed them baby formula with a syringe. Sadly, the male died, but the female lived. I got up every 2 hours and fed her until she was ready for solid food.

She was a wonderful pet. Lots of fun, full of energy. She would jump on me and hold on when I walked around the house or neighborhood.

She would sit on my shoulder and “talk” into my ear. She loved attention and snuggles. My dogs learned to accept her, and she would ride around on their backs.

Unfortunately, my parents wouldn’t let me keep her. I had to let her go, but for several years she kept coming back to the house with her offspring. Even after I moved out, she continued to bring her babies with her every visit.
