When I see my son was doing something I had never seen him try before, such as using new art supplies, power tools, maybe something from the kitchen. I walked over and asked:

Me: “Who gave you permission to use that?”

Him: “I gave myself permission. And since I own myself, I’m the only one who can give me permission.”

Me: “All right then. Carry on.”
