My three-year-old boys come up to me, grab my hands, and say, “Dada, listen,” then speak for about 3 minutes about something.

They speak gibberish with a few English and Portuguese words interspersed while laughing so hard that everything is garbled.

If they don’t know the word for something, they make up one. This makes communicating between the twins easier and communicating with everyone else harder. At this point, 2/3 of their words are made-up ones.

As I figure out what they are saying, I teach them the correct words. But it’s a fun guessing game to figure it all out.

They sure are happy, though.
