I took my dad for a tram ride in Lisbon. Just as we were arriving at a stop, someone tried to pick his pocket. That is the usual trick, they grab something and hop off before you even notice.

But my dad noticed. He grabbed the guy and drop-kicked him straight through the tram door and out onto the street. The thief landed flat on his back, smacked his head on the ground, and just lay there.

He could not even yell back. The tram doors closed and we rolled away.

One second we were having a pleasant conversation. The next, my 60-something father was drop-kicking a Gypsy thief off a moving tram.
