I have a large longsword, designed as a foam weapon, but it weighs about the same as a real sword and has a good amount of stiffness.

My sons have a collection of short swords, shields, and bucklers. They love it when I chase them around the house and tap them with the sword, never hard enough to hurt, just enough to make them leap out of the way.

They love dodging, I love chasing. It turns into a fast-paced, joyful game. Lots of running, laughing, and fun for all of us.
